Their current members include MC Suffa, MC Pressure and DJ Debris. Hilltop Hoods have been a group since 1991 after MCs Suffa and Pressure met in school together, meeting DJ debris later on.
Their record label is Obese Records. www.obeserecords.com The name Hilltop Hoods refers to a hilltop from the town where Suffa and Pressure grew up. Their band name was first created by a local rapper in a Coles carpark.
Hilltop Hoods are regulars on Triple J, a radio station and TV show in Australia. They have received places in their "Hottest 100", and played Live on jtv, featured late night on ABC televion. They also were nominated for five ARIA Awards. They won 2 out of those five; including; "Best Urban Release" and "Best Independent Release".
They became the first Australian Hip Hop group to reach number one on the ARIA charts after their release of "The Hard Road" on April 1, 2006.
On 27th April, 2006, they performed at the Bass in the Grass music festival hosted in Darwin. They played alongside fellow hip hop group "The Herd".
Towards late 2006 they released their third single from "The Hard Road", which was the song and music video "What a Great Night".
They released "The Hard Road Restrung" (a remix of their previous album recorded with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra), which was on May 12, 2007.
They performed at The Big Day Out in 2008.
